To get your project off the ground we will carry out an initial visit free of charge*; thereafter Trewin Design Architects will propose your next steps.

Our service has been designed so that you can select those services that suit your budget and your project. You may choose to use our architects across every aspect of the project or just simply for ideas and advice. Importantly, you always stay in control.

At the end of your initial visit, we will discuss the next steps with you, and will advise which services you will require and in each case we will give you an idea of the likely costs involved. These will then be confirmed and sent to you in an itemised list of costed services for you to consider and choose from.

Meetings
Throughout the process of your project you will probably need to discuss the progress of works, prices, the design development or any other queries you may have. This can be done either by email, over the telephone or at a meeting. Similarly you may want your architect to attend a meeting with you and your contractor, structural engineer or other consultant.

Initial Design Consultation
Following your initial visit, you may require further drawings, information or clarification on the sketch scheme produced during that visit. Your architect can help you to further develop your outline level design, investigate related issues, produce sketch perspective illustrations, create computer rendered perspective views and walk through movies.

Measured Building / Site Survey
To enable your architect to prepare useful drawings of your proposals, it is necessary to have drawings of the existing building  / site in a CAD (computer aided drawings) format. For some projects precision is vital, for others, less so. We can advise you on what is suitable for your project.

Detailed Project Drawings
In simple terms, the more information you have on your drawings the more control you will have over your project. Complex buildings need a great deal of detail, whereas simple projects can get by with less. Scheme level drawings provide the backbone of what is needed for most projects and we will be able to advise you on what is required for your particular project.

Planning Permission & Building Regulations
Statutory consents are the permissions you require in order to carry out the changes you wish to make to your land or property. Trewin Design are able to complete and submit all the relevant consents for your project, from permitted development applications to planning applications, building regulations applications and other consents such as listed building consents, landlords consent, party wall act notices etc.

Contract & Site Inspections
Throughout the whole process from concept to finished project, we will be there to help as much or as little as you want. We will be happy to administer the whole contract for you or just attend a few meetings to check on progress. We will be able to help you decide which level of service would be suitable for your project and budget.

Finishes / Interior Design / Landscape Design
We can help you with any part of the building process that you feel would benefit from a professional opinion, all the way down to sourcing furniture and helping you to choose your floor coverings etc. Trewin Design can help you with layout drawings, sourcing of materials and finishes, furniture and fittings as well as kitchen and bathroom design and lighting design. We can also provide landscape design to provide the complete package.

Selecting Contractors
Finding the right contractors can make all the difference to the success of your project so it's important to be careful when you are selecting who you want to carry out your work.

Using a contractor that has been tried and tested by someone else is a good way to find someone who is likely to do a good job for you. Word of mouth is almost always the best way to source a contractor and that's why we have developed a database list of local contractors that have a good reputation.
