Private HousesJays Farm
|
This proposal was for the conversion of a large Threshing Barn which was within the curtilage of a Grade II Listed Farmhouse. The proposal allows for a large arts studio for film and theatre workshops and provides accommodation for visiting artists and a permanent studio for the clients artwork. The idea was to retain as much of the internal spaces of the barn as possible without making many new openings. In the main studio space the first floor is removed to make a double storey height with a mezzanine gallery looking down on it with large double height doors at one end out into an enclosed walled garden. The old water wheel feature to the side of the building was utilised to bring light in to allow a basement area where there where not many windows to gain daylight.
