Affordable HousingPinehurst
|
Working with our clients, Guinness Trust, we have secured Planning and Conservation Area Consent for the construction of 17 Affordable Houses situated close to the centre of Bodmin. The site is situated within the Conservation Area due to its proximity to the Victoria Barracks. The design responds to a tricky and narrow site in a creative and interesting way. The approach was developed once all the constraints had been identified and evaluated in order to offer a good quality housing scheme. The scheme is proposing the demolition of a single bungalow in order to provide a mix of seventeen affordable homes. The scheme includes a mix of size houses and flats, including a full wheelchair accessible house. The proposal creates good quality housing with a strong relationship with the conservation area and surrounding homes. The intention has been to create a simple form of architecture with contemporary Cornish undertones. The style is also derived for exploration of features and characteristics of the conservation area in which the site is located. This has been articulated by using a materials palette which includes traditional materials such as slate and natural stone, incorporated with panels of dark brick and white render to introduce contemporary features. Construction is due to start in 2010. Architect – Trewin Design Partnership
